- Refresh your knowledge about probablity distributions
- Understand the two components of the GLM: Linear predictor + Link function
- Know common types of GLMs, their corresponding data types, response distributions, and link functions
- Understand basic syntax of PROC GENMOD and PROC LOGISTIC.

Readings & Videos
- Reading:
- Allison ch 6 & 9
- (Skim) GHV ch 15
- Videos:
- If you feel confused about probablity distributions, it is totally an issue of my poor course planning. I feel I did not devote enough time in Week 1 to review different probablity distributions in details. TBH, we have one fewer week in Module 1 this year so I was in rush to cut and merge some sessions😂
- Below are some videos that I found helpful for me. I would recommend you watch them before class if you are unsure about some concepts!
- Overview of Some Discrete Probability Distributions [6 mins]
- Introduction to the Negative Binomial Distribution [7 mins]
- Other videos in this playlist 👆
Tuesday Session
Other Generalized Linear Models, Part I
- The generalized linear model
- Link functions
